Eletrical Trochoild Pump

Electrical Trochoid Pump — BB & BBZ Circulating Oil Lubrication

The BBZ trochoid pump assembly combines an electric motor, trochoid (gerotor) oil pump, and optional relief valve in one compact unit for low-pressure circulating and intermittent oil lubrication. Trochoid geometry delivers smooth, pulse-free flow with self-priming capability and low noise compared with gear pumps—suited to machine tools, textile and printing equipment, and light industrial machinery.

Typical duty: 0.1–0.4 MPa rated pressure, discharge from about 1.4 to 7.8 L/min depending on model and motor speed (500–2,000 r/min on bare pump heads; ~1,400 r/min on standard BBZ-1 assemblies). Viscosity range ISO VG 20–320 (N20–N320). Inlet/outlet threads Rc 1/8 to Rc 3/8 by frame size.

Use for spindle oil circulation, hydraulic-style lube circuits, and centralized oil supply where continuous or timed flow is required—not for high-pressure NLGI grease. Related: lube oil pump hub · electric motor pump kits · oil metering units on SLR branches.

trochoid pump assembly

What Is a Trochoid Pump?

A trochoid pump uses an inner rotor and outer stator profile to sweep fluid around the chamber. The result is steady flow, good suction lift, and quiet operation—common in machine-tool lubrication and hydraulic power units at moderate pressure.

BB vs BBZ Configuration

  • BB series (P/N 20151–20156) — pump head only; you supply motor and coupling. Choose displacement (1.0–5.0 mL/rev), rotation (clockwise / anti-clockwise suffix N), and relief (suffix Y).
  • BBZ series (P/N 20170+) — complete assembly with motor, relief, and base. Faster procurement for circulating-oil skids.

Typical Applications

  • CNC spindle and way oil circulation sumps
  • Closed-loop oil cooling and filtration circuits
  • Centralized light-oil supply to single-line or restriction manifolds
  • Textile, printing, and packaging lines needing continuous micro-flow

Selection Steps

  1. Calculate required flow from bearing and way consumption plus filter/cooler bypass.
  2. Pick displacement (mL/rev) and speed to meet L/min target at 0.1–0.4 MPa.
  3. Confirm viscosity grade at operating temperature (N20–N320 table).
  4. Select Rc port size for hose or copper line diameter on your manifold.
  5. Specify CW vs CCW to match motor rotation; add relief (Y) if downstream dead-head is possible.

Suction Lift & Installation

Bare pump specs note operation at about −1 kg/cm² suction with oil lift up to 3 m height—mount pump as low as practical below the reservoir, use flooded suction when possible, and bleed air on first start.

Before you buy: read our complete guide to grease pumps.

What delivery pressure and suction lift can trochoid pumps achieve?

Rated working pressure is typically 0.1–0.4 MPa on BBZ assemblies. Suction side can operate around −1 kg/cm² with oil lift up to about 3 m when primed correctly—prefer flooded inlet on machine sumps.

What materials are used inside the pump?

gear
Gears and rotors use high-quality alloy steel machined to tight tolerance. Sealing uses premium O-rings; drive shafts receive HRC 45–50 hardening for wear resistance.

What oil viscosity range is supported?

ISO VG roughly N20 through N320 depending on model row in the BB table. Thicker oil at low temperature may require lower speed or larger displacement.
good quality seal

Clockwise vs anti-clockwise—how do I order?

P/N suffix N denotes anti-clockwise rotation; base numbers are clockwise. Match motor rotation to pump marking to avoid cavitation and seal damage.
hard shaft

Do I need a relief valve (Y suffix)?

Choose Y when downstream can block flow (closed valve, clogged filter). Open-circuit return-to-tank systems may use bare head without relief—confirm with your hydraulic schematic.

Trochoid pump vs gear pump for machine tools?

Trochoid units are typically quieter and smoother at low pressure circulating duty; high-pressure grease or fire-resistant fluid circuits may need a different pump class—see oil pump selection hub.
