6mm Nylon Tubing Overview
6mm nylon tubing with a 6mm outside diameter (OD) and 4mm inside diameter (ID) is a semi-rigid PA12 tube for compressed-air service, pneumatic control lines, and low-pressure fluid transfer. This 6mm OD x 4mm ID tubing handles a maximum working pressure of 150 PSI with a 450 PSI burst pressure and covers -40°C to +100°C, so it fits typical plant-air, machine, and instrument lines rather than high-pressure grease circuits. The tube is translucent, so you can see flow during setup. IsoHiTech Lubrication Systems, founded in 2023, engineering since 2006, supplies this size in 10 m, 25 m, and 50 m rolls, with cut lengths for larger orders.

As the upper temperature limit is approached, the allowable working pressure of nylon tubing decreases. The derating curve for your temperature and routing is not a fixed number on this page, so request a quote and confirm it at order.
Applications
- Pneumatic air lines, air tools, and air cylinders
- CNC machine coolant lines
- Air compressor air distribution
- Laboratory fluid transfer
- Pneumatic actuators
- Automotive fluid lines outside of braking and fuel systems
Installation and Selection
This tubing mates with standard 6 mm push-to-connect quick fittings, pneumatic quick couplings, and 6 mm compression fittings. The wall is semi-rigid: it holds shape in routed runs and resists collapse, but it is not a flexible hose, so plan gentle runs instead of tight bends.
To install, cut the tube square so the end is flat, remove burrs, and push the tube fully into the fitting until it bottoms out.
If the tube end works under a compression nut, fit a 6mm/4mm brass tube insert inside the end so the nut cannot crush or oval the tubing.
Use this 6mm page for compressed air and low-pressure fluid lines; for oil-mist, return, and grease-line sizing, see our lubrication tubing and hose selection guide, the grease line tubing and fittings selection guide, and the grease line fittings category.
Maintenance
Inspect runs and fittings on your planned maintenance rounds. Replace sections that show abrasion, cracking, kinking, or weeping at the fitting tail. There is no fixed service-life figure: life depends on operating temperature, pressure cycles, chemical contact, and mechanical wear, so judge by inspection, not calendar time.
FAQ
What is 6mm OD x 4mm ID nylon tubing?
It is a polyamide (PA12) tube with a 6mm outer diameter, a 4mm inner diameter, and a 1mm wall. The 6mm OD is what 6mm push-to-connect and compression fittings grip; the 4mm ID is the flow passage.
What do the 6mm OD and 4mm ID each control?
OD controls the connection: a 6mm tube seats in standard 6mm quick fittings and compression fittings. ID controls flow: the 4mm bore sets how much air or fluid passes at a given pressure.
Can I use this tubing for automotive braking or fuel lines?
No. Braking systems are governed by dedicated certified standards, and general pneumatic nylon tubing is not a substitute. Fuel lines also call for fuel-rated materials. Use this tubing for non-braking automotive fluid lines only, and confirm any fuel use at order.
Is 150 PSI enough for my system?
150 PSI covers typical compressed-air and pneumatic control circuits. It is not intended for high-pressure grease lines or centralized lubrication supply lines, which commonly run far above this rating. Confirm your circuit pressure at order.
How do I work with the 25mm minimum bend radius?
Keep every bend at 25mm or more, measured on the inside of the tube. Leave enough slack at each fitting so the tube enters straight and then curves gradually. Do not pull a run tight around a corner.
How does PA12 differ from PA6 nylon tubing?
This page covers PA12. PA6 is a different polyamide grade with different moisture uptake and dimensional behavior, and the grades are not automatically interchangeable. If you need PA6 or another grade, confirm availability at order.
What happens to this tubing at high temperature?
The rated range runs from -40°C to +100°C. As temperature rises toward the upper limit, the allowable working pressure falls. We do not publish a fixed derating curve, so send your operating temperature and pressure, and we confirm the right setup.
Can I order rolls or cut lengths?
Yes. Standard supply is 10 m, 25 m, and 50 m rolls, and bulk orders can be supplied as cut lengths. Contact our team with your lengths and quantities through the quote form.
How do I cut and install 6mm nylon tubing?
Cut square with a sharp tube cutter, deburr the cut end, and push the tube fully into the fitting until it bottoms out. With compression fittings, fit a 6mm/4mm brass tube insert in the end first so the nut cannot crush the tubing.
How long will the tubing last?
There is no fixed lifespan figure. Service life depends on operating temperature, pressure cycles, chemical contact, and mechanical wear. Inspect lines on your maintenance rounds and replace sections that show cracking, kinking, abrasion, or weeping at fittings.
