One-Shot Lubricator Kit for Bridgeport Mills
Bridgeport and Bijur Delimon are trademarks of their respective owners. This kit is an aftermarket assembly, not manufactured, sponsored, or endorsed by either company. Bijur part numbers are for cross-reference identification only.
The kit is a single-line resistance one-shot oil lubrication assembly built around the Bijur L5P-R manual pump, reference D3174C. It supplies oil to up to nine lubrication points on a Bridgeport mill. The pump discharges on handle release, not on the push stroke. Each point receives oil through a Type F resistance meter unit. This method is also described in our explanation of a single line lubrication system.
A lubrication oil pump of this type is common on knee mills and light machine tools. The kit includes the pump, meter units, and distribution tubing for a complete replacement assembly. Installers should confirm all dimensions and thread forms before ordering. For broader context, see what is a central lubrication system.
What the Kit Does
The kit replaces a worn or missing one-shot lubrication circuit on a Bridgeport mill. A manual plunger action pulls oil from the reservoir and pushes it into the main line. On handle release, a spring return creates the discharge stroke. Meter units at each bearing split the oil flow. The operator pulls and releases the handle once per shift or per work cycle.
Oil only moves through the system. Grease is not supported. The circuit works with 5/32 inch outside diameter nylon or copper tubing. The pump mounts in the original Bridgeport location in most cases. Mounting hole spacing and actuator linkage should be checked against the existing bracket.

How the SLR Circuit Works
The pump feeds one main line from the reservoir. The line branches to each bearing point. At each branch, a Type F meter unit throttles flow through a calibrated orifice. This creates resistance that spreads oil across all points instead of dumping it at the first open path.
Discharge happens on handle release, not on the push. The spring return builds flow after the handle is released. Oil reaches far points slowly by design. A second shot after a pause helps on long circuits. This operating pattern is standard for single-line resistance oil lubrication. For a different oil delivery method, review our page on the oil mist system.
Installation Overview
The pump mounts with two or three fasteners. The existing Bridgeport bracket usually aligns with the L5P-R base. The actuator handle connects to the pump plunger through the original linkage. All threads are inch form unless noted on the packing list.
Tubing runs from the pump outlet to each meter unit. Use clean cuts and deburr the tubing ends. Nylon tubing seats into compression sleeves. Copper tubing requires a matching ferrule. Meter units screw into the bearing housing ports. Do not use thread sealant tape. The threads seal on the fitting seat, not on the threads.
Fill the reservoir with oil in the 150 to 8,000 SSU range. Pump the handle several times with a drain point open. Close the drain and continue until oil appears at the farthest meter unit. Confirm the handle returns fully after each pull. For ordering help, contact the team.
What to Confirm Before Ordering
Check the number of lubrication points on the mill. The kit supports up to nine points. Count the existing meter unit threads and the bearing housing ports. Verify the pump handle location and clearance. Confirm the reservoir capacity required for your daily cycle.
Measure the tubing outside diameter. The kit is built for 5/32 inch OD, about 4 mm. Check the oil viscosity in your shop. Confirm the oil is clean and free of water. Select the manual pump or note the automatic electric pump as a separate item. All specifications in this page come from the catalog-confirmed L5P-R data. The kit assembly around it is our declared build.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this kit fit my Bridgeport mill?
Most Bridgeport step-pulley and variable-speed knee mills use the same Bijur one-shot layout. Confirm bolt spacing and handle linkage before ordering.
Is the pump an original Bijur L5P-R?
The pump supplied is a Bijur L5P-R cross-referenced to D3174C. The surrounding kit is an aftermarket assembly.
Does the system feed oil or grease?
The system feeds oil only and does not work with grease. Reservoir and meter units are sized for oil flow.
How much oil moves per stroke?
Discharge volume is adjustable from one to five cm3 per stroke. Set it to match the number of points and the oil in use.
How many points can it feed?
The kit feeds up to nine lubrication points per system. Larger machines may need a second circuit.
What tubing does the kit use?
The kit uses 5/32 inch outside diameter nylon or copper tubing. Both are 4 mm nominal outside diameter.
What oil viscosity is allowed?
The allowed oil viscosity range is 150 to 8,000 SSU. Heavier oil can slow the circuit below useful speeds.
Why does oil take time to reach the far points?
Resistance metering slows oil deliberately so all points receive some oil. A second shot after a pause helps long circuits.
Can I upgrade to an automatic pump later?
The optional automatic electric pump is available separately from the manual kit. Existing tubing and meter units remain compatible.
