DCB-2 Electromagnetic Piston Pump for SLR Lubrication

DCB-2 electromagnetic piston pump for single-line resistance lubrication: 0.24 ml oil per stroke, 1 to 10 points via DPT valves, external controller timing.

What the DCB-2 is

The DCB-2 is a solenoid-driven piston pump for single-line resistance (SLR) lubrication, a branch of automatic lubrication used on small machines. Every stroke displaces 0.24 ml of oil into one supply line serving 1 to 10 lubrication points fitted with DPT resistance metering valves.

It pumps oil only; an external controller – a timer, controller, or machine control system – decides when it runs. Typical applications are escalators, machine tools, and packaging lines, where several points need small, regular oil doses.

New to centralized oil supply? Our guide to what a central lubrication system is covers the basics.

How the electromagnetic drive works

Each cycle is one straight-line stroke: the energized solenoid drives the piston, pushing 0.24 ml of oil through the outlet check valve into the supply line; when it releases, a spring returns the piston and the chamber refills from the tank.

With no rotating seals, there is no shaft seal to maintain; the wearing parts are the piston seal and two check valves. The pump can complete up to 20 cycles per minute, though the controller normally runs it slower with a relief phase between cycles so the metering valves reset.

Model range

The range covers multiple order codes combining supply voltage, tank, and either a level switch or a sight glass; confirm the full code for voltage and tank before ordering.

How it fits an SLR system

In an SLR system the pump feeds one line past every lubrication point. Each DPT valve is an orifice-type resistance metering valve: line pressure pushes a small, fixed volume through to the point, and relieving the line lets it reset. No mechanical dividers sit in the line.

Two other architectures also use a single pipe, each with a different metering principle. A single-line injector system charges the line and meters with positive-displacement injectors; see our injection lubrication system guide and the 2L injector-type oil pump. A progressive system meters through sequential piston blocks such as the ZP-A progressive blocks. Our single-line lubrication system page covers these single-pipe layouts.

A manifold between pump and points carries the supply line and the DPT valves. The 24V DC model suits machines run from low-voltage control wiring.

Oil, filtration, and routine care

The pump is built for oil with a viscosity of 20-320 cSt at operating temperature, filtered to 25 micron or finer. Grease is not an option: dirty or unsuitable oil starves the small DPT orifices.

Routine care is light: check the oil level weekly (daily where the machine runs continuously), clean the inlet filter every 3-6 months, and verify monthly that the pump completes its cycles; a blocked check valve or worn piston shows up first as missed cycles.

Models 31926, 33025, and 46408 report low oil to the controller through a level switch; other models use a sight glass. On external reservoirs, an ultrasonic tank level switch adds non-contact level monitoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the DCB-2 and how does it work?

It is a solenoid-driven piston pump for single-line resistance lubrication. A spring returns the piston while two check valves direct oil from tank to line.

How do the models differ?

They combine voltage, tank size, and either a level switch or a sight glass. Models 31926, 33025, and 46408 carry the level switch, and model 48228 is the 16 bar variant.

How much oil does each lubrication point receive?

The pump displaces 0.24 ml per stroke, which is pump displacement, not the per-point dose. The DPT valves split the discharge, with example shares of 0.05, 0.10, and 0.20 ml per cycle.

How are frequency and timing adjusted?

An external controller sets run time and the pause between cycles, up to 20 strokes per minute. A relief phase between cycles lets line pressure fall so the DPT valves reset.

What voltage options exist?

AC models run on 220V, 230V, or 100V at 50Hz, and a 24V DC model serves low-voltage control integration. AC models draw 0.6A.

How many points can one pump feed?

One pump feeds 1 to 10 points through DPT valves on one supply line. Long lines add resistance, so confirm the layout and point count before ordering.

Can the DCB-2 pump grease?

No. It pumps oil only, because grease would clog the small orifices in the DPT resistance metering valves.

What does the level switch add?

It reports low oil to the controller before the tank runs empty. A level alarm confirms oil in the tank, not that oil actually reached every point.

What maintenance does the DCB-2 need?

Check the oil level weekly, daily for continuous use, and clean the inlet filter every 3 to 6 months. Verify cycles monthly, and contact us for a care schedule matched to your machine.
