What This Cartridge Set Is
This set contains three replaceable cartridge elements for inline lubrication filter housings. The cartridge is the consumable part that is swapped at service time; the housing body, bowl, head and connected pipework stay in place. Housings and complete filter units are a different purchase from the elements listed here; the spin-on oil filter covers the complete-canister format. For the pipeline housing used with these elements, see the GGQ series high pressure pipeline filters. For other element and housing options, browse the lubrication filters category.

Absolute Versus Nominal Ratings
A rating stated as absolute is a hard cutoff claim at the particle size printed on the element. A nominal rating is an average-efficiency convention: particles near the stated size pass through at a rate that varies with the test method and the flow condition. Numbers expressed on these two bases are not directly comparable, and a nominal figure lower than an absolute figure does not make the nominal element finer. Do not substitute a nominal element into a circuit specified around absolute filtration. When a lubrication point depends on a known particle size being held back, keep the element on the absolute basis that the circuit was set up around, and confirm the basis with the supplier when ordering.
Choosing the Micron Rating
| 10 micron absolute | precision metering devices and injectors with tight internal clearances |
| 25 micron absolute | general industrial lubrication circuits |
| 40 micron absolute | high-flow low-pressure systems and suction-side protection |
The rating follows the most sensitive component downstream of the filter. A circuit feeding a metering device or a small-clearance injector generally calls for the 10 micron element, because those parts have narrow internal passages that a larger particle can obstruct. A general industrial circuit with ordinary bearings and gearboxes is usually served by the 25 micron element. Where flow is high and pressure is low, or where the element sits on the suction side of a pump, the 40 micron element keeps restriction low while still holding back coarse debris. If a circuit includes both a sensitive device and a high-flow branch, protect the sensitive device and confirm the arrangement when ordering.
Replacing the Element
Shut off system pressure and depressurize before opening the housing bowl. Check for weeping at the bowl joint once the element is out; a seal that has taken a set should be replaced with the element. Verify the removed part against the 100 mm OD x 200 mm length of this set before reordering, since similar-looking cartridges with other dimensions will not seat correctly. Seat the O-ring in its groove lightly oiled, so it stays in place as the bowl goes back on. Judge replacement by the differential pressure trend across the housing and by flow at the lubrication points, not by guesswork or by calendar habit. Rising differential pressure or reduced flow at the points means the element is loading up and should be changed. For fit questions before ordering, contact for a quote.
What Is Supplied
Three replacement cartridges, each with an integrated O-ring in the zinc-plated steel end cap. Ratings and housing fit must be confirmed when ordering, because the same housing family can accept more than one element size.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will these fit my housing?
Verify the 100 mm OD x 200 mm length against your housing bore before ordering. Other cartridge sizes will not seat correctly.
What does absolute mean?
It is a hard cutoff claim at the rated particle size. It is not comparable with a nominal rating.
How do I choose the micron rating?
Follow the most sensitive component downstream: 10, 25 or 40 micron absolute. Confirm the choice when ordering.
How many cartridges are in a set?
Three cartridges are supplied in each set. Order the number of sets your housing count requires.
What is the temperature limit?
The declared limit is 100°C media temperature. Confirm your operating condition when ordering.
What is the media made of?
The media is pleated cellulose. It is intended for mineral-based lubrication circuits.
Do they fit GGQ housings?
They are declared compatible with GGQ series housings. Confirm your housing before ordering.
How is the end cap sealed?
Each end cap has an integrated O-ring. Seat it lightly oiled in its groove during assembly.
When should elements be replaced?
Replace on rising differential pressure or reduced flow at the lubrication points. Do not rely on a fixed interval alone.
