Oil Mist Lubrication Pump | Mist Generating Unit

Oil mist lubrication pump: 6-10 bar inlet, 1-3 micron mist, conveying up to 50 ft, 1-6 outlets, #10-#220 oil, 4L reservoir, DC24V or AC220V.

How the Oil Mist Lubrication Pump Works

An oil mist lubrication pump generates a fine oil mist at a central point and carries it through tubing to bearings. Compressed air enters at 6-10 bar inlet pressure, and the generating head atomizes oil from the reservoir into 1-3 micron droplets, mixed with air at about a 1:200,000 oil-to-air ratio. The mist travels at 15-24 ft/s (5-7 m/s) through small-bore tubing to nozzles sitting 5-25mm from each bearing.

A Positive Displacement Injector (PDI) block meters a fixed amount of oil into the airflow at each outlet. A built-in timer controls the cycle, a pressure switch watches supply pressure, and a level switch reports the reservoir level.

Near the lubrication point, air expansion at the nozzle produces a controlled spray. A sight glass shows the oil feed as drops, and the drip rate sets mist output to prevent over-lubrication.

This pump is the mist-generating side of an oil mist setup; distribution hardware and the full system layout are covered on the oil mist block page and the oil mist system overview.

Honest Limits Before You Order

Fine mist generation depends on clean, dry compressed air within the 6-10 bar inlet range; wet or oily supply air degrades the mist, and droplets settle out inside the line.

Distance matters: the mist must reach each bearing before particles settle, so keep every run within the conveying limit and route it as directly as the layout allows.

Viscosity matters too: only oils in the #10-#220 range atomize into a stable mist; heavier or lighter oils need review.

The oil feed is a manual setting: the sight glass drip rate must be set and verified during commissioning, then rechecked during scheduled checks.

Confirm distance, viscosity, and outlet count against your equipment before ordering. The quote request page is the place to verify the right configuration.

Where the Unit Works Well

Typical applications include centrifugal pumps, where bearings receive a steady supply of fresh oil; electric motors, where a continuous flow of clean oil helps bearings run cooler; steam turbines at elevated temperatures; conveyor chains and gears; and machine tools such as tapping and drilling machines. For larger oil volumes, review the lubrication oil pump page and the three basic types of oil pumps overview.

FAQ

How does an oil mist lubrication pump work?

Compressed air enters at 6-10 bar, and the generating head atomizes oil into 1-3 micron droplets mixed with air at about a 1:200,000 ratio. Air expansion at the nozzle turns the mist back into a controlled spray at the bearing. A sight glass shows the feed as drops; the drip rate sets the output.

How far can the mist travel?

The mist moves through small-bore tubing at 15-24 ft/s (5-7 m/s) and conveys up to 50 ft (about 15 m). Past that distance, particles begin to settle, so keep runs within the limit and route them directly.

What power supply does the unit need?

Two versions are available, DC24V or AC220V. Pick the voltage when ordering and confirm your site supply matches. Both versions carry the same timer, pressure switch, and level switch.

What happens if the air supply is wet or dirty?

Mist quality drops. The air preparation stage removes bulk moisture and particles, but the unit still needs clean, dry air in the 6-10 bar range; wet or oily air makes droplets settle in the tubing before they reach the bearing.

Which oil viscosity can I use?

The declared range is #10 to #220. Oils outside this band do not atomize into a stable mist; review the application with the supplier before ordering.

How do I set the oil feed rate?

The feed appears as drops in the sight glass, and the drip rate sets how much oil enters the airstream. Set it during commissioning by watching the sight glass, then recheck it as operating conditions change.

How often does the reservoir need attention?

The 4L reservoir reduces refill frequency, and the level switch signals a low level. It is not set-and-forget: check the level and sight glass during scheduled checks, and refill before it runs dry.

Can one unit feed more than six lubrication points?

The air-oil block provides 1-6 outlets, so one unit covers one to six points. Beyond six, review a larger system layout or multiple units rather than overloading one block.

Does the unit run without daily attention?

It runs unattended between scheduled checks, replacing daily or weekly manual oiling. It is not maintenance-free: the oil level, the drip rate, and the air preparation stage need periodic checks.

Who supplies this oil mist lubrication pump?

IsoHiTech Lubrication Systems was founded in 2023, engineering since 2006. The unit generates a 1-3 micron mist at a 1:200,000 oil-to-air ratio, conveys it up to 50 ft, and handles #10-#220 oil in a 4L reservoir on DC24V or AC220V with timer, pressure switch, and level switch.
