The straight hose stud on this page is the inner insert of the three-piece reusable hose end for 8.6 x 4 grease hose: a sleeve threads over the tube outside, this stud screws into the tube bore, and an end fitting closes the connection. This page covers the stud only – order the matching sleeve separately. The stud is reusable after inspection.
Where This Stud Fits in a Reusable Hose End
Three parts share the sealing work in a reusable hose end: the sleeve wraps the outside of the 8.6 mm OD tube, the stud grips the 4 mm bore once driven home to the shoulder, and the end fitting – a compression nut or a push-lock collar – locks the stud to the line. The hose itself and the PA12 tubing for the same systems are on the hose and polyamide tube page.

With Groove or Without Groove
The with-groove version carries a circumferential groove behind the shoulder that accepts the locking collar of a push-lock end fitting. The without-groove version takes compression nuts only. Choose by the end fitting on your line; for the collar style, see the push-to-connect grease line fittings.
Assembly in Five Steps
- Cut the tube end square with a tube cutter; do not use a knife or a saw.
- Turn the sleeve counterclockwise onto the tube until it bottoms, then back off half a turn to release torsion.
- Turn the stud clockwise into the sleeve while pushing it into the tube bore until the shoulder seats, holding the stud with a vise or wrench against spinning.
- Attach the end fitting: thread on the compression nut, or snap the push-lock collar into the groove.
- Pressurize the line with grease and check the hose end for leaks.
What Is Supplied
One straight hose stud in the thread, groove version, and body material confirmed on your order. The matching sleeve is sold on the compression sleeves and ferrules page; an end fitting such as a compression straight tube fitting comes from its own page. Tube, nuts, and collars are not included.
Honest Limitations
- This page sells the stud only; the sleeve and the end fitting are separate items.
- It fits tube of 8.3 – 8.75 mm OD with a 4 mm bore; other hose sizes need a different stud.
- Zinc-nickel plated steel suits indoor machine tools and most industrial settings; for washdown, humid, or outdoor exposure, choose stainless steel.
- The without-groove version takes compression nuts only and cannot accept a push-lock collar.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this straight hose stud the right part for my grease line?
Buy it when you build or repair reusable hose ends on 8.6 x 4 hose – 8.6 mm outside diameter, 4 mm inside diameter. It is the stud only, not a complete hose end; an elbow stud is a separate variant.
Groove or no groove: what is the difference?
The groove accepts the locking collar of a push-lock end fitting; the without-groove version is for compression nuts only.
Which thread should I choose: M7 x 0.75, M9 x 1, or M10 x 1?
Match the internal thread of the end fitting. The three sizes are not interchangeable; confirm the thread form and sealing arrangement when ordering.
Can the stud be reused when I rebuild the hose end?
Yes. Inspect the grip profile for wear or damage and reinstall it if sound; a sleeve crushed or deformed in service should be replaced.
What else do I need for a complete hose end?
Three parts: this stud, the matching sleeve for 8.6 mm OD tube, and an end fitting such as a compression nut or a push-lock collar fitting.
Why does the tube end need a square cut?
A square cut lets the tube bottom evenly so the stud grips the full circumference of the bore; an angled or ragged end leaves a leak path.
How tight should the stud be turned into the sleeve?
Turn it until the shoulder seats fully, holding the stud body with a wrench or vise so it does not spin. Full shoulder contact is the endpoint.
When should I choose the stainless steel version?
Choose it for washdown, humid, outdoor, or corrosive settings; for indoor machine tools and general industrial duty, zinc-nickel plated steel is the standard choice.
How do I check the finished assembly for leaks?
Pressurize the line with grease and inspect the hose end; weeping at the sleeve or shoulder means re-seating or rebuilding. Unsure which version fits? Share your thread size with our team.
