Threaded Sleeve for 8.6mm and 4mm Polyamide Hose

Threaded sleeves for 8.6mm OD x 4mm ID polyamide lubrication hose. Left-hand thread, zinc-nickel or stainless 316, field-assemblable with a hose stud.

Threaded Sleeves for 8.6mm OD x 4mm ID Polyamide Hose

This threaded sleeve is a field-assemblable hose-end component for 8.6 mm outside diameter x 4 mm inside diameter polyamide lubrication hose. The sleeve screws onto the outside of the hose, while a separate hose stud enters the 4 mm bore and compresses the hose wall against the sleeve. Together, sleeve and stud form the finished hose end. The sleeve alone is not a complete connection, and it is not interchangeable with 6 mm or 1/4 inch tubing hardware.

Why the Sleeve Thread Is Left-Handed

The internal thread of the sleeve is left-handed, and this is the detail most often missed during field assembly. When the hose stud is tightened clockwise into the hose bore, the turning action creates a reaction torque in the opposite direction. A left-hand sleeve thread converts that reaction into a self-tightening motion rather than a loosening one. The result matters on equipment where vibration is continuous and where hose ends are opened and reclosed during maintenance. A right-hand sleeve thread would tend to walk loose under the same conditions. Because the sleeve and stud work as a pair, always confirm that the mating stud carries the matching left-hand thread form before assembly. The sleeve is dimensionally compatible with established centralized-lubrication hose systems.

Materials and Finishes

Sleeves come in three material and finish combinations; selection depends on the atmosphere, wash-down practice, and temperature at the hose end.

MaterialFinishTypical Use
SteelZinc-nickel platedGeneral machinery, moderate moisture
SteelBlack chromatedIndoor equipment, mixed metal assemblies
Stainless steel 316UnplatedWet, wash-down and outdoor locations

Standard hose assemblies using these sleeves are rated for temperatures from -20°C to +70°C. Stainless sleeves combined with high-temperature hose versions extend the working range to -40°C to +120°C. The minimum bend radius of the hose is about 5 times the outside diameter, roughly 43 mm for this size.

What Is Supplied

Each order unit is the threaded sleeve only. The hose stud is a separate item and must be ordered to match, because the sleeve cannot grip the hose without it. Before ordering, confirm the hose diameters, the stud thread direction, and the material finish.

Assembling a Hose End in the Field

Cut the polyamide hose square with a sharp blade so the cut face is flat and perpendicular to the hose axis. Do not crush, pinch, or ovalize the hose during cutting or handling, because a distorted end will not seat properly. Slide the sleeve onto the hose and thread it into position by hand. Insert the hose stud fully into the 4 mm bore, turning it as the left-hand thread requires, so the hose wall is compressed evenly between stud and sleeve. Inspect the finished end: the hose should sit square, with no visible gap between sleeve and stud shoulder. For matching stud options, see the straight hose stud for 8.6×4 hose.

Push-In or Compression: Choosing the Mating Fitting

The sleeve works with either push-in or compression mating fittings. Push-in fittings allow fast connection and disconnection, and the push-in working limit is about 80 bar. They suit routine maintenance and lines that are opened often. Compression fittings retain the hose more strongly and are the better choice for permanent runs and high-vibration locations. Both options use the same sleeve and stud hose end. For a closer comparison, read compression vs push-in lubrication fittings. When specifying the rest of the circuit, the lubrication tubing and hose selection guide and the quick connect lubrication fittings range are useful references. Frequently Asked Questions

Will this sleeve fit an 11.3 mm hose?

No. An 11.3 mm outside diameter hose does not fit this sleeve, which is sized for 8.6 mm outside diameter hose only.

Is the hose stud included?

No. The sleeve is supplied on its own, and a matching hose stud must be ordered separately to complete the hose end.

Which way does the sleeve screw on?

The sleeve has a left-hand internal thread. It turns in the opposite direction to a conventional right-hand threaded part.

What hose does it fit?

It fits polyamide hose of 8.6 mm outside diameter and 4 mm inside diameter, in PA66 or PA12 grades.

Can I use it with a push-in fitting?

Yes. The sleeve pairs with push-in fittings, whose working limit is about 80 bar, as well as with compression fittings.

What about higher pressures?

For higher working pressures, choose a compression mating fitting rather than a push-in type, and confirm the hose rating.

What finishes are available?

Zinc-nickel plated steel, black chromated steel, and stainless steel 316. Stainless suits wet and wash-down locations.

How do I prepare the hose end?

Cut square with a sharp blade, avoid crushing or ovalizing the hose, then insert the stud fully into the bore.

Where do I confirm a matching stud?

Send the hose size and thread direction through our quotation request page and we will confirm the matching stud.
