Triple-Swivel Joint 1/4″ M-F – 350 Bar Grease Line Swivel

Universal 1/4″ M-F triple-swivel joint for grease lines: 350 bar working pressure, three 360° rotation axes, NBR or FKM seals, self-lubricating.

The triple-swivel joint on this page is a universal grease-line swivel rated at 350 bar working pressure, built as a 1/4″ M-F connector between the pump outlet and the hose or between the hose and the grease gun. It lets the hose and gun move with the operator while the line stays pressurized, so the hose stops twisting and kinking. This page covers the joint: axes, specifications, installation, and limits. For grease gun accessories in general, start with the grease gun accessories guide; for fitting types and threads, see the grease fitting types guide.

What the Triple-Swivel Joint Does

Three independent 360° rotation axes share the movement between the pump, the hose, and the gun, so the operator can swing, angle, and rotate freely. It mounts between the pump outlet and the supply hose, or between the hose end and the grease gun; the grease pump page covers the pump side, and the grease line fittings category the rest of the run.

Body Material and Seal Options

The standard body is zinc-plated carbon steel, with SS303 and SS316 bodies for corrosive environments; the SS316 version is approximately 15% heavier than the steel version. Length is 75 – 95 mm depending on material, diameter 25 – 32 mm, weight 280 g. NBR seals cover -25°C to +80°C, and FKM seals cover -15°C to +200°C for high-temperature service. The joint is self-lubricating from the grease passing through it.

Thread Systems and Sealing

Two thread systems are offered: 1/4″ NPT or 1/4″ BSP (G1/4). They are not interchangeable at the same nominal size, so specify the thread when ordering. The NPT version seals by thread interference. The BSP version is a parallel thread that seals with an O-ring or washer, and an anaerobic sealant is recommended for grease service.

Torque and Installation Practice

Tighten the fixed, stationary threaded end to 20 – 30 Nm to form the friction lock on the NPT taper. Never use the rotating body as a wrench surface, and do not add spring washers, which crush the body and lock rotation.

Honest Limits of This Swivel

  • The 525 bar proof pressure is a verification value, not a working rating; run continuously at 350 bar or below.
  • A swivel removes twisting, not abuse: side loads, a pre-twisted hose, or a tight bend radius still shorten hose and joint life.
  • NPT and BSP are separate systems; a mismatched pair damages threads and leaks.
  • The joint is one straight-through passage: it swivels, but it does not meter grease or divide flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know this swivel joint is what I need?

If the grease hose twists, kinks, or fights the operator at the gun, this joint is built for that. For other grease gun accessories, the grease gun accessories guide is the better starting point.

What does each rotation axis do?

Axis 1 at the pump end absorbs lateral swing and operator movement. Axis 2 in the middle compensates angular offset and vertical displacement. Axis 3 at the gun end allows free axial self-rotation.

Is 350 bar enough for my system?

350 bar is the working pressure rating for typical high-pressure grease lines. The 525 bar proof pressure is a factory verification value, not a license to run continuously above 350 bar.

Should I order the NPT or the BSP version?

Match the port on your equipment; NPT and BSP are not interchangeable even at the same nominal size. NPT seals by thread interference; BSP seals with an O-ring or washer plus an anaerobic sealant.

How much torque should I use during installation?

Tighten the fixed, stationary threaded end to 20 – 30 Nm. Never use the rotating body as a wrench surface, and do not add spring washers.

Can the joint work loose under vibration?

The NPT version forms a friction lock at the recommended torque; the BSP version should get an anaerobic sealant. If it still works loose, check the mating threads for wear.

Should I choose NBR or FKM seals?

NBR covers -25°C to +80°C as the standard choice; FKM covers -15°C to +200°C for high-temperature service. Send your grease spec to confirm compatibility.

Will the hose still twist with a swivel fitted?

The three axes remove torsion, but they cannot fix bad routing: side loads, a pre-twisted hose, or a tight bend radius still wear the hose and the joint.

When should I replace the joint?

Watch for rough or binding rotation, grease leaking past the seals, or worn mating threads. When replacement is due, request a replacement quote with the thread, body, and seal.
