VSKH-KR Dual-Line Metering Valve 0-1.5 cm3

Aftermarket VSKH-KR dual-line metering valve with horizontal G1/4 ports. 1 to 8 outlets, 0 to 1.5 cm3 per stroke, 35 to 400 bar, oil from 20 cSt, NLGI 0-3.

What the VSKH-KR Is

The VSKH-KR is a dual-line metering valve in the VSK family, offered as an aftermarket replacement for SKF Vogel VSK units. The H marks the horizontal main-line port arrangement, and KR identifies the adjustable output version with a setting range of 0 to 1.5 cm3 per outlet per stroke. It meters grease and oil in centralized lubrication systems at pressures up to 400 bar (5,800 psi).

This page completes the VSK matrix alongside the vertical-port VSKV-KR and the related VSG-KR family. Use the VSKH-KR when the two main lines approach the valve mounting position at the same level, so the inlet ports align horizontally with the pipe run.

How Dual-Line Metering Works

A dual-line system uses two main lines pressurized alternately. When line one is pressurized, each metering piston moves through its full stroke and discharges a set volume from one side of the piston. When line two is pressurized, the piston moves back and discharges from the other side.

The alternating piston displacement meters a set volume per stroke regardless of which main line is active. The indicator pin moves with the piston and gives a visual confirmation that the cycle completed. Output per stroke stays consistent across the operating pressure range for a given setting.

KR Adjustment and Paired Outlets

The KR adjusting sleeve sets the delivered volume per outlet per stroke from 0 to 1.5 cm3. The KRR version offers a reduced range of 0 to 0.6 cm3 for applications that need smaller doses. Set the sleeve to the required output before commissioning and verify delivery at the lube point.

Two adjacent outlets can be coupled internally to feed a single point. Pairing doubles the delivery per stroke, up to 3.0 cm3 at maximum KR adjustment. Where outlet back pressure is significant, fit check valves at the consolidated outlets to prevent reverse flow into the valve.

Monitoring Options

Each pair of outlets shares an indicator pin that shows the piston cycle visually. The pin confirms that the piston completed its stroke, but it is a cycle indicator, not a delivered-volume gauge. Do not use pin movement to infer the actual volume discharged.

A wear-free proximity switch option allows electrical cycle monitoring. The switch detects piston movement without contact and sends a signal to the control system. Confirm availability of the proximity switch option with the order code when specifying the valve.

VSKH, VSKV, or VSG

The choice between VSKH and VSKV follows how the main lines reach the valve mounting position. Select VSKH when the main lines run horizontally into the valve at the same level as the mounting point. Select the VSKV-KR vertical dual-line metering valve when the lines approach from above or below the valve.

The related VSG-KR dual-line metering valve family carries a larger G3/8 inlet for higher-volume main lines. Confirm the thread standard on your order code, since G1/4 and 1/4 NPTF variants exist across the family. For system-level guidance, see the dual-line lubrication systems page.

Related Products

The VSKV-KR covers vertical main-line orientation in the same adjustable-output family. The VSG-KR offers the larger G3/8 inlet for related applications. The dual-line systems page explains how these valves work within a complete two-line installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the H in VSKH mean?

The H marks the horizontal main-line port arrangement. Choose it when the main lines reach the valve at the same level as the mounting position.

How much lubricant does each outlet deliver?

The KR adjusting sleeve sets 0 to 1.5 cm3 per outlet per stroke. The KRR reduced version spans 0 to 0.6 cm3.

What are the inlet and outlet threads?

G1/4 BSPP inlet and outlets, with 1/4 NPTF variants in the family. Confirm the thread standard on your order code.

What is the minimum operating pressure?

35 bar. Below that the pistons may not complete their stroke, reducing output.

Can it meter NLGI 3 grease?

Yes, greases up to NLGI 3 are within the family rating. In cold climates prefer NLGI 0 or 1 with verified low-temperature flow.

What does the indicator pin actually show?

It shows that the piston completed its cycle. It is a cycle indicator, not a delivered-volume gauge.

Can two outlets feed one point?

Yes, pairing two outlets doubles the delivery to that point, up to 3.0 cm3 per stroke. Fit check valves where outlet back pressure is significant.

Is a stainless version available?

Yes, stainless steel is optional alongside galvanized carbon steel. Confirm the grade on the order code.

Is electrical monitoring available?

A wear-free proximity switch option allows cycle monitoring. Confirm availability with the order code.
