How is Automatic Lubrication of Chains Achieved?

Recently, engineers at lithium battery factories have been complaining about the same issue: manual lubrication of chains is too troublesome! So, how can this problem be solved through automatic lubrication?

As we all know, the best way to lubricate a chain is through liquid oil lubrication. This ensures that a stable oil film forms between the chain pins and bushings, preventing the chain from elongating due to wear and affecting production over time.

When maintenance staff manually apply lubricating oil with a brush, it’s difficult to control the amount, often leading to grease drippings. For lithium battery factories, where cleanliness is crucial, this increases the risk of product contamination. Additionally, in high-temperature environments, such as tunnel kilns, the lubricating oil can dry out, increasing the risk of chain breakage.

If a break occurs, machinery must be stopped for repairs. As chains are 15-20M long, repairs can be time-consuming. For production lines that demand high efficiency and saturation, this can lead to unplanned downtime and significant production losses. Therefore, proper lubrication and maintenance of chains are extremely important.

Chains in high-temperature conditions require frequent lubrication. A familiar equipment engineer revealed, “The equipment has been running for a year and has never been oiled.” Moreover, a maintenance supervisor mentioned that workers are reluctant to perform the tedious and repetitive task of lubrication, and the effectiveness of manual lubrication is hard to guarantee.

Our solution is to install automatic lubrication systems. Depending on the type of lubricant, we choose either oil or grease lubrication equipment for automatic application.

1. Strict Control of Lubricant Quantity

The quantity of lubricant in each application must be controlled to prevent excess. Based on the chain’s width, environmental temperature, and running speed, our lubrication equipment has a frequency mode to control the output frequency of oil or grease, ensuring rapid consumption by the chain.

2. Compact Lubrication Equipment

We offer various types of lubrication pumps that are easy to install, with installation of a single unit taking about 10 minutes. After an on-site inspection, they can be installed near observation windows in tunnel kilns for easy routine inspection and lubricant replenishment.

3. Selection of Lubrication Accessories

Our chain solution includes a brush at the end to evenly apply lubricating oil on all chain nodes, ensuring good penetration of the lubricant.

4. Brush and Ferrule-style Piping

Since the end of the chain lubrication is in open space, the brush needs strong oil absorption. Also, to prevent oil leakage in high temperatures, we recommend ferrule-style joints instead of quick-connect ones for better pipeline sealing.

5. Control of Grease Dripping

Technically, the lubrication frequency should be adjustable over a wide range. Our controller can adjust the lubrication cycle as needed. Additionally, oil collection troughs and other waste oil collection devices are installed near the lubrication brush to prevent product contamination.

As a manufacturing enterprise, we offer products at competitive prices and provide solutions tailored to different chains and environments.
